Married, Trying to Avoid Pregnancy

Trying to avoid pregnancy?

Natural Family Planning is proven to be an effective way to avoid pregnancy, and has been proven to be as effective as contraceptives, even though the practice of NFP is not contraceptive in any way. Couples who practice NFP have knowledge of the woman’s fertile signs and symptoms, and this gives them confidence in knowing that they can avoid pregnancy if they have prayerfully discerned that to be appropriate at any given time. This is done by only engaging in sexual intercourse on days that they are confident the woman is infertile. They should, however, recognize that every sexual act must be open to the transmission of life by its very nature-see Catholic Teaching on NFP page.
